How to get to the island?
Ko NangYuan is only a 15-20 minute long-tail boat ride from Ko Tao. Although you can easily book a snorkeling trip through any tour agency or operator, the cheapest and most convenient option is to charter a long-tail boat yourself. You can bargain for a lower price, but a rough estimate is 100-150 Baht one way. Unless you intend to spend the night on the island, secure a ride back and plan with the boatman ahead of time.
This is one place in Thailand that you must see to believe. The aquatic life on this island is copious. We recall seeing a HUGE triggerfish, as well as a slew of parrotfish, just a few meters from the shore. The facility has a dive shop from which to launch your dive, but trips from Ko Tao Island to these sites are also fairly common. When we talk or hear about Thailand, we often have the usual assumptions that are quite similar to others. Heading on island hopping tours in Thailand will be more expensive than organizing your trip, and you will also lack the leeway that you would have when traveling alone.
Thailand is one of the best countries for a solo trip because it is so easy to travel and get around. Every year, many solo travelers come to Thailand and organize all of their activities without the help of any tourist agencies. This also applies to wandering through the isles.
- Choose which islands to visit and how much time you will spend on each. I would not recommend visiting these islands all at once unless you have three months to travel around Thailand.

Reality: Actually, it may look like most of the islands are developed, but certainly not. If you take into consideration that there are plenty of buildings, condo units, and such. There are still some islands that don’t have an ATM or running water (perhaps depends on which location you went to).

Expectation No. 4: When you have a lot of dough, you can buy yourself out all the time
Reality: In most cases, if you have unlimited sources of income or whathaveyou’s, maybe then you can do that. Sure enough, you can find friends along the way, maybe a Thai GF if you are single, but when your dough ends, that’s where everything ends.
